Tom DeLonge teases “epic” new Angels & Airwaves album with studio footage
The record – the follow-up to 2014’s The Dream Walker – has been in the works for quite some time now, with the band first making their surprise return with awesome single Rebel Girl in 2019. And it seems as though they’re making decent progress on LP number six, with frontman Tom teasing a snippet of new music on Instagram that absolutely fits with his “epic” description.
Earlier this year, AVA took to social media to confirm that they were “safely and distantly back at work putting the finishing touches on our 6th studio album, which we feel is our best yet. If all goes as planned, songs will be ready to roll out this spring. We also have shows planned, so as soon as it’s safe, we will be out playing them! With so much to keep looking forward to, please wear a mask, wash your hands, stay safe and know this too shall pass.”
In late 2019, Tom told Kerrang! that Angels & Airwaves’ “next record is probably going to be the best of my life”.
“I have a lot to say, and I’ve been gone for a while, so I feel like I’m more prolific a songwriter than I’ve ever been,” he said. “Angels & Airwaves aren’t pigeonholed into any one particular sound, and our fans are absolutely feverish about what we do and the message of the band. They really support who we are, so it’s a really great spot to be in.”
