Travis Barker has revealed that this weekend he flew for the first time since his 2008 plane crash.

In a post on Twitter and Instagram, the blink-182 drummer shared a picture of himself and girlfriend Kourtney Kardashian in front of a private jet in which they flew from Los Angeles to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, with the message, “With you anything is possible.”

The 2008 crash in Columbia, South Carolina, killed both of the plane’s pilots, Travis’ security guard, Charles Still, and his assistant, Chris Baker. Travis survived, although the drummer was left with severe burns over 60 per cent of his body, and deeply traumatised by it. For the 13 years since, he has toured by road, and travelled by ship to get abroad.

Speaking to Kerrang! about the accident in 2019, Travis revealed the impact it had on him.

“Any near-death experience is going to shake shit up,” he said. “I had a lot of people that were really important to me in my life taken away. Beyond that, I looked death in the face and I survived.

“I know every day since that crash has been a blessing. I just had to convince myself that I walked away still-alive for a reason, and I should make the most of every day. But until you almost die, until you look death in the face, you can’t honestly say, ‘I cherish every day like it’s my last.’ I think people that have cheated death just do it in a different way.”
