Watch Jason Newsted unbox Metallica’s massive Black Album box set

We already know there’s tons of stuff in the special 30th anniversary edition of Metallica’s Black Album, coming on September 10. There’s a remastered version of the album, a Sad But True picture disc, three live LPs, 14 CDs and six DVDs featuring unreleased live stuff and demos, tour laminates, guitar picks, lithographs (including a Kerrang! cover from the time – you're welcome, lads), lyric sheets, and massive coffee table book.

It’s loads of stuff. But you won’t fully appreciate what a leviathan it all is until you’ve seen it all being unboxed and chatted about on a patio by then-bassist Jason Newsted in a cowboy hat.

See how full Jason's table is there? Loads of stuff. And this, remember, is on top of a 53-track covers album, Blacklist, featuring reworkings of the record’s 12 tracks by Biffy Clyro, Weezer, Corey Taylor, Ghost, Miley Cyrus, Elton John, IDLES and loads more. Also: they’ve teamed up with Vans to make some trainers featuring art by collaborator Pushead.

Oh, and they’re unleashing a film’s worth of outtakes from their A Year And A Half In The Life Of Metallica documentary, which follows the band as they make the album and become the biggest metal band on Earth.
