Watch Metallica Play The National Anthem At An NBA Finals Game

James and Kirk shredded through the Star Spangled Banner before last night’s game.

When there’s a huge sporting event going down in the Bay Area, you can count on Metallica to make it a night to remember. Just this past April, the two guitarists performed the National Anthem at the San Franisco Giants’ game at Orcale Park, which they’ve done for seven years in a row as part of a tradition known as “Metallica Night”. This time around, James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett came out to play their rendition of the Star Spangled Banner before the third game of the NBA finals between the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

James and Kirk repped their home-state team by wearing the Warriors’ motto “Strength In Numbers” on their shirts. Most of the performance was held down by Hammett, whereas Hetfield added a bit extra to inject a little metal into the anthem.
