Tool's Fear Inoculum Is The Longest Track To Ever Enter Billboard Hot 100, Ænima Cracks Top 10

Tool have not only reentered the Billboard Top 10 with 1996's Ænima, but they've made chart history with Fear Inoculum.

Tool's Fear Inoculum Is The Longest Track To Ever Enter Billboard Hot 100, Ænima Cracks Top 10

Progressive metal legends Tool are really showing bands across the globe how to do album roll-out right. Between taking as long as they felt like to record and drop their long-awaited new album, and putting their music on streaming services during the lead-up to the record's release, the band have reentered both the public and industry eye as music legends. First, their 2001 album Lateralus became iTunes' most downloaded album; now, they've reentered the Billboard 200's Top 10 with 1996's Ænima, and have made Billboard history with their new song Fear Inoculum, which is the longest song to ever enter the Hot 100.

Wrapping up their Top 10 breakdown, Billboard writes, "Closing out the top 10 is a re-entry for Tool’s Ænima at No. 10. The set -- which debuted and peaked at No. 2 in 1996 -- was released via digital retailers and streaming services for the first time on Aug. 2, along with most of the rock band’s catalog.

"The album bounds back onto the list with 33,000 equivalent album units earned (up 5,900%), of which 18,000 were in album sales."

Meanwhile, the realtime chart-monitoring Chart Data account on Twitter has posted that Fear Inoculum, the title track of Tool's upcoming new album, is the longest song to ever enter the Hot 100, landing on the #93 spot and clocking in at over 10 minutes.

Reentering the Billboard Top 200 twenty-three years later and breaking records for song length -- it's safe to say the new album was worth the wait for the band.
