Black Stone Cherry’s Chris Robertson On How Bob Marley Saved His Life

The frontman explains why the Legend compilation is his go-to album in times of struggle.

Black Stone Cherry frontman Chris Robertson says that Bob Marley’s Legend compilation is the album that saved his life.

I was leaving my house one day to take my own life and luckily I’m still here,” says Chris. I got to talking to Fred [Young], [BSC drummer] John Fred’s uncle from The Kentucky Headhunters. He had been through a severe depression as well. He said, Go home, put on a Bob Marley record, go somewhere by yourself and just listen.

I got the Legend record and it made me realise that life isn’t about the negative things,” he adds. You can’t help but smile when you hear a song like Three Little Birds.”
