Fall Out Boy performed smash single Centuries at We The People, this weekend's virtual Joe Biden pre-inauguration concert.
Over the weekend, the members of Fall Out Boy regrouped for their first live performance since December 2019.
Patrick Stump, Pete Wentz, Joe Trohman and Andy Hurley joined forces for Joe Biden pre-inauguration concert We The People, appropriately performing American Beauty / American Psycho lead single Centuries during the virtual show.

And the sleek performance was a welcome change from the more DIY/at-home videos that Patrick and Pete have done in lockdown; the pair appeared remotely for Cisco Live! online event last summer and played acoustic renditions of Centuries and Sugar, We’re Goin Down, and frontman Patrick was a guest at an August charity event which raised money for Chicago animal shelter One Tail At A Time.

Reflecting about Centuries in an interview with Kerrang!, Patrick explained, “This was one of the only ones I’ve ever been really sure of. Usually I’m not too sure about any of our songs, but when we finished this one, I just knew it was great. There’s a little moment in there somewhere, on the multi-layered harmony, that as I was doing it, I thought, ‘This feels like something.’
“It’s had a weird life. Because that whole era was kind of a blur for us. When we did Save Rock And Roll, from the minute we dropped the record we were out for three years or something. So there’s a weird blurred edge about Centuries. Like, ‘Oh yeah, that was on American Beauty / American Psycho!’ because for us it kind of all happened at once. So I sometimes forget which record that song is on.
“Yet it paved the way to the album,” he continued. “It’s like a point on a map, and then it’s like, ‘Well, what’s the rest of this look like?’ You start exploring around it. That’s what Centuries was – we’d landed somewhere.”
