Have Slipknot started teasing a new single?

On mysterious new website thechapeltownrag.com, it sounds as though Slipknot have started offering up snippets of new material…

It's going to be a huge week for Slipknot with their biggest-ever headline performance (and accompanying global livestream) taking place at Knotfest Los Angeles this Friday – but now it looks as though things could be twice as massive, as the metal titans seem to have shared short snippets of new material.

It's no secret that there's a potential single (and hopefully full album) on the way, and mysterious new website thechapeltownrag.com could well hold the secrets to unlocking it.

After frontman Corey Taylor and Bring Me The Horizon's Oli Sykes were interviewed about their Knotfest plans for Knotfest.com last week, the site now hosts a button that reads, 'Read all about it if you want to know…' that takes you to the aforementioned thechapeltownrag.com page.

Once you're there, the site has three (of nine) spinning graphics that you can either 'play' or 'redeem' – and, when played, all three of them certainly have that unique Slipknot sound and could well be lifted from their new record. The only question now is: where are the other six snippets? And what is this all building to?

Last week, Corey teased that Slipknot will have some "cool surprises" coming at Knotfest Los Angeles.

"The cool thing is that we really worked on a pretty fucking killer set to put together, which we kind of pieced together over some rehearsals – just kind of trial and error, putting the show together and really got it locked tight," he said.

"But, having said that, we've got some cool surprises ready for Knotfest LA. Just for the fact that our career's kind of been leading towards this now. And the fact that we have such a stacked line-up – not just Bring Me, but, obviously, Killswitch [Engage], FEVER 333, Code Orange, my son's band Vended, my wife's dance [group] is gonna be doing an incredible show right before Bring Me plays.

"We're all really, really stoked that we're gonna be able to do something really special for LA, and, honestly, our first real stadium show. So that's what I'm most stoked about – not just our show, but just the fact that we're putting something on as a testimony to the music we love, the fans that we love to play for, and just hopefully the start of something massive in the future."
