Identity Of Static-X's New Frontman Revealed Via His Tattoos

A Danish metal magazine has matched tattoos on Static-X's Xer0 with a known metal vocalist.

When nu-metal powerhouse Static-X first revealed their masked touring vocalist Xer0 -- a man wearing what appeared to be a dead skin mask of deceased frontman Wayne Static, which many found unnerving and inappropriate -- plenty of people wondered who the band had enlisted into the fold. There were many guesses, but no proof -- until now. A Danish metal magazine has matched up tattoos on both Xer0 and another metal frontman, and confirmed the masked singer's identity.

As Metal A Day confirmed, and as many have guessed, Static-X's new frontman is Edsel Dope of nu-metal act Dope. The magazine noticed a tattoo on the neck of both Xer0 and dope that were the same:

This is, of course, unsurprising to most people, because Static-X and Dope have always been close as bands. They've toured together repeatedly, and both imbue their music with a sense of modern, industrialized griminess. Most of all, if any singer could do a solid vocal impression of Wayne Static's growl, it would be Edsel Dope.

That said, you won't hear much of Edsel on Static-X's new record, Project Regeneration, as the band have announced that the album will feature newly-discovered vocal tracks of Wayne Static on almost every song. Listen to a teaser of the first single, Hollow, below:
