Laura Jane Grace returns with new solo single, Dysphoria Hoodie

Against Me! icon Laura Jane Grace has shared new single Dysphoria Hoodie, taken from her soon-to-be-announced solo record…

Following 2021’s surprise At War With The Silverfish EP, Laura Jane Grace is back with a brand-new solo tune.

The Against Me! icon has unveiled new single Dysphoria Hoodie, which is taken from her soon-to-be-announced next solo record on Big Scary Monsters/Polyvinyl Record Co.

Speaking about the meaning behind the track, Laura shares: “This is a song about gender dysphoria and your favourite hooded sweatshirt. Any trans person out there knows what a dysphoria hoodie is – it’s the hoodie you wear when feeling low and dysphoric and you don’t want the world reading your gender. Hide your body shape, hide your head, disappear as much as you can. Wrap yourself up in it like a blanket anywhere you go. Make your flesh become cotton. Instant protection from the outside world.

“My dysphoria hoodie happens to be an adidas hoodie,” she adds, “so yes, this is in fact really just a tribute song to my favourite adidas hoodie.”
