Mike Shinoda Will Be Releasing Dropped Frames, Vol. 2 This Week

The next instalment of Mike Shinoda's Dropped Frames album series will be out in the next few days.

It's no secret that Mike Shinoda has been working on two more instalments of his Dropped Frames album series following the release of Vol. 1 earlier in July – but the musician has (very sneakily) confirmed that Vol. 2 is actually arriving this week.

Unsurprisingly, the Linkin Park musician's chosen format for teasing the record was Twitch, with Mike arranging certain folders on his computer's desktop to read, "DROPPED FRAMES", "VOLUME 2" and, "COMING THIS WEEK." Damn, Mike, you almost got away with that…

The folks at @LPLive on Twitter spotted the practically hidden message and posted a screengrab of Mike's shenanigans, letting followers know that we really don't have long at all to wait for the follow-up to Dropped Frames, Vol. 1.

Recently, Mike told Forbes, “These albums, Dropped Frames, is gonna be the first of at least three. I’ve got the second one done and the third one is in progress. And I say in progress, basically it’s just tightening up and mixing stuff that I made on the stream. But certainly it’s a thing I wouldn’t have done unless I was in this situation that I’m in right now.”

He added of the all-instrumental direction on these records: “I grew up since I was three, as you know, I grew up drawing and painting and I went to school for art. A lot of times when I was doing homework instrumental music is a great companion to drawing and painting because it doesn’t lyrically lead you in a direction. Your mind is free to wander to other things. Maybe we need more of that these days.”
