Slipknot have parted ways with drummer Jay Weinberg

Slipknot have just announced that they have made “a creative decision” and parted ways with their drummer, Jay Weinberg, who’s been with them since 2014.

Jay Weinberg is no longer a member of Slipknot.

The drummer joined the Iowa metal titans in 2014 after Joey Jordison’s departure the year prior, and has been with them on their past three studio albums: 5.: The Gray Chapter, We Are Not Your Kind and The End, So Far.

Now, though, a new statement from Slipknot reveals that the band have decided to “part ways” with him.

“We would like to thank Jay Weinberg for his dedication and passion over the past ten years,” they say. “No-one can ever replace Joey Jordison’s original sound, style or energy, but Jay honored Joey’s parts and contributed to the last three albums and we, the band, and the fans appreciate it.”

They continue: “But as ever, Slipknot is intent on evolving. The band has decided to make a creative decision, and to part ways with Jay. We wish Jay all the best and are very excited for what the future holds.”

At the time of writing Jay hasn’t yet made his own statement on the situation, however he did perform with the band in Mexico on Friday night, November 3, and posted on Instagram after the gig: “Gracias, @hhopenair!! What a year 2023 has been. Great way to cap off an amazing year of memorable shows.”

In June of this year, the ’Knot also said goodbye to another longtime member, Craig Jones, writing in a brief statement: “To our fans, Slipknot is announcing that we have parted ways with Craig Jones. We wish Jones all the best for the future.”

Slipknot are currently comprised of Corey Taylor, Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan, Mick Thomson, Sid Wilson, Jim Root, Alessandro ‘Vman’ Venturella and Michael Pfaff aka Tortilla Man. They were also joined on the road by another musician following Craig’s departure in the summer, though his identity hasn’t been officially confirmed by the band.
