The second season of The Umbrella Academy has wrapped!

The Netflix series based on Gerard Way's graphic novel has been shooting in Toronto, Canada, over the past few months, and now it's in the can.

Sharing the news on Instagram, actor Justin H. Min (who plays Ben Hargreeves/Number Six in the show) said: "And just like that, Ben and I are headed home. A huge thank you to our cast and crew, who've become a second family to me the last six months; I’ll miss seeing your beautiful faces everyday.

"And Toronto, I fall more in love with you every year — especially when I can run away right before winter gets bad. I can't wait for you guys to see what we’ve been working on. Season 2 is gonna be wild."

The Umbrella Academy has been something of a runaway success for Netflix, so it's no surprise season two has been completed so soon after the first season aired. According to Netflix, the show was watched by 45 million households in its first four weeks, and it was nominated for two Emmys earlier this year.

In September, Gerard Way revealed he had started work on volume four of The Umbrella Academy, but we've no idea how he's going to find time to finish it now My Chemical Romance are back in business.

With their first show in seven years coming up later this month, MCR have huge shows lined up for 2020 already including headline slots at Download Japan and Download Australia.

Speaking to Kerrang! last month, Thursday frontman Geoff Rickly revealed he had spoked to Gerard about the reunion, and that it had to happen now.

“I spoke to Gerard about the reunion a little bit recently and he said it felt like it was the right time," said Geoff. "One of the things he said was, ‘I don’t know if it would have happened if it wasn’t now.’ And I got what he meant by that. At some point it just becomes too long, like, ‘I don’t think I can get back there, personally. It’s just too distant and too weird.’ So I’m glad that they’re doing it. I think it’s amazing."
