Trent Reznor Is "Itching" To Play Nine Inch Nails Shows This Year

According to Trent Reznor, Nine Inch Nails are in talks about playing some shows in 2020.

Following on from the brilliant news that Nine Inch Nails will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame this May, Trent Reznor has revealed that he's also "itching" to play some live shows in 2020.

In a new interview with Rolling Stone discussing the upcoming induction ("I’m pretty freaked out. I’m quite in shock…"), the NIN leader is asked about touring plans in 2020, to which he responds: "We’re talking about doing some shows this year, yes. Nothing announced yet. We’re coming off what seems like an endless amount of time we’ve been scoring films. We had a few projects but into each other. I’m itching. I’m ready."

Given that the band's last tour – the Cold And Black And Infinite 2018 run – was at theatres in the U.S., Trent admits he doesn't know yet what sort of venues he would like Nine Inch Nails to perform at this time around, and if they might consider going bigger than before.

"I’m not exactly sure what the plan is," he says. "We enjoyed that last run. Before we’d take anything on, there really is a 'hit the pause button' and sit down with our team and say, 'What feels right?' It’s not automatically, do the thing without thinking it through. That last wave of playing multiple nights and varied setlist in theatres had an intimacy to it that felt cool. I feel like Spinal Tap when I say those words, when he’s trying to justify having a small audience."

As well as discussing his plans for the year and the Rock Hall news, Trent also drops another bombshell in the interview – that he "just had a new baby over the weekend".

"Lots of action here," he added. Congratulations to Trent and his wife, Mariqueen Maandig Reznor!
