Dave Grohl "Cried A Little Bit" During Weezer's Cover Of Lithium

Dave admits hearing Weezer's rendition of Lithium brought a tear to his eye

At this weekend's Rock In Rio festival, Weezer (who are becoming the masters of the cover version) performed their own rendition of Nirvana's Lithium, playing the main stage before Foo Fighters' headline set.

“We’re going to cover a song from Dave Grohl’s old band,” said frontman Rivers Cuomo to the Brazilian crowd, who promptly (and rightfully) lost their collective shit.

And they weren't the only ones delighted by Weezer's version of Nirvana's 1991 hit, Dave Grohl was listening nearby and it hit him hard.

Speaking onstage during their headline set, the Foos frontman said: “I was backstage and I heard Weezer play the Lithium song and I’ve got to be honest, I cried a little bit. I miss playing that song."

He went on to dedicate the song Big Me to Weezer.

Dave also revealed during their set that they're going home this week start working on the next Foo Fighters record. Keep your eyes on Kerrang! for all the updates from the studio and beyond.
