Watch Rivers Cuomo Cover Green Day’s Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)

Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo shared a lovely cover of Green Day's 1997 smash single Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life).

Rivers Cuomo's awesome Island In The Zoom sessions have produced yet another wonderful cover: following on from his rendition of Nirvana's Heart-Shaped Box, the Weezer frontman has taken on Green Day's 1997 Nimrod hit Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life).

The cover – which sees Rivers tackle the track with an acoustic guitar, with his wife joining him on piano – comes shortly after the postponement of this year's Hella Mega Tour, which was set to feature Green Day and Weezer, as well as Chicago pop-rock heroes Fall Out Boy sandwiched in the middle of both.

"Hey guys, so sorry about the postponement of Hella Mega," Rivers said on Twitter. "Here's an acoustic cover of Green Day's Time Of Your Life. (My wife joined me!) Next summer we shall rock."

Petition to get Rivers out onstage during Green Day's set on the Hella Mega Tour so they can all perform this together next year?

In a joint statement announcing the postponement of the U.S. leg of the Hella Mega Tour, Green Day, Fall Out Boy and Weezer wrote:

“Hopefully this doesn’t come as a surprise, but as much as we were all looking forward to seeing you all this summer, everyone’s safety is our highest priority so we’ve officially made the call to reschedule all North American dates of the Hell Mega tour until next year.

“We’ll be announcing summer 2021 dates with the same venues very soon so hold on to those tickets. All ticket holders all be emailed directly with refund options as well. Please stay safe and we look forward to seeing you in 2021.”
