The 50 best albums of 2024
The Kerrang! countdown of the 50 albums that shaped 2024.
While out on the road delivering their incredible new album Cartoon Darkness to fans throughout the UK, Amyl And The Sniffers met up with Girls Rock Glasgow for an inspiring evening.
Last night in Scotland (November 6), Amyl And The Sniffers met up with grassroots music education organisation Girls Rock Glasgow to offer some pearls of wisdom to a group of aspiring musicians.
The Aussie punk heroes welcomed the young women and non-binary kids – between the ages of eight and 16, some of whom even came straight from school – to the O2 Academy Glasgow to watch their soundcheck and partake in an inspiring Q&A session before the band’s performance at the 2,500-capacity venue.
“I think it’s really cool what you’re doing and I want to support other people in the industry,” Amyl’s brilliant vocalist Amy Taylor told them, after answering questions about songwriting, touring and more. “I’m really proud of us as a band and crew that we’ve done this and we’re holding our own, in a very male-dominated industry.
“So I guess I just want to show you that, it can be done and you guys can do whatever you want. If you can’t see a version of yourself onstage or in the industry, that means there’s a gap that you can fill. There’ll be hundreds of people who will want to see you doing what you’re doing.”
Girls Rock Glasgow Co-Director Alice Black later said that, “Being able to give our girls these kinds of opportunities is so important; sometimes you need to see it to be it. Who better to see than someone like Amy?”
