Joe Cardamone, formerly leader of the The Icarus Line, has dealt with a few things in recent years: Cardamone’s wife struggled with severe depression; Alvin DeGuzman, his constant companion in The Icarus Line, passed away from cancer; close friend and collaborator Annie Hardy lost both her young child and partner just months apart; and he went on a disastrous tour with Scott Weiland, which ended with Weiland’s overdose death. From all this, Cardamone's Holy War project, encompassing both music and film, was born.

Kerrang! is excited to premiere the latest part of the Holy War project: the gritty, violent music video for his newest single, East Side No One.

"We set out to continue the universe of the upcoming Holy War film," Joe explains of the video. "We actually shot an entirely different video for the track and then we destroyed the hard drive and then started again. The concept wasn't as visceral as the song and so the next day we started over from scratch and I followed my gut towards what I knew the song needed. The entire ESNO film was recorded in the neighborhoods that I grew up in and still live in – East LA. The characters depicted are rough sketches of kids that we were in the past or that people we know became.

"The music is some kind of cross between Travis Scott and Scott Walker getting into a gun battle. The entire story was shot in eight hours with a bare bones crew that could move fast and paint a serious portrait of hubris, excess and ultimately fated demise. All the videos from the Holy War collection of music are connected but this chapter proved to be the most brutally violent so far. Just another hot night on the fucked side of Los Angeles."
