Ahead of their biggest UK and European tour to date, Parkway Drive have unveiled a brand new lyric video for Shadow Boxing.

As Winston McCall and co. gear up to hit some pretty massive rooms with Killswitch Engage and Thy Art Is Murder this month and next, the band have released a load of footage of Winston doing his thing alongside the song's dark lyrical message.

Ahead of the release of latest album Reverence last year, we asked Winston specifically about Shadow Boxing's words: ‘This mask I wear can’t keep the darkness in.’ Did the frontman really feel like he had to wear a mask at certain points over the past few years, throughout the hardship that was thrown their way?

“Oh yeah, of course," he admitted. "And it’s been forced upon you, to a certain degree. I am a happy person, and I live in an amazing place, and I play in a band that I love and I get to do fucking awesome things, but, that being said, between [previous album] Ire and now, we went through this process of an incredible challenge of creating a record, followed by us playing that record. It was insanely well received, but it was also the first divisive thing we've ever created, so there was whatever side of that response being levelled at us. And, at the same point in time while all that was happening, everything else was going on behind the scenes. It was very hard to just exist, put it that way. I’m not going to say exist honestly, but to be able to exist without succumbing to basic instincts to just lash out at something. To lash out at someone, or to lash out because of an event, or anything like that. It’s a challenge. It takes a lot of introspection, and thought, and confidence in yourself, just as a sane human being, not to just snap, basically. It’s been walking on a snapping point for quite a long time. I think people take it for granted for the fact that I am ‘the nice guy’ that will smile and take this shit, basically (laughs).”
