Following the return of Reading & Leeds this summer, the festival has announced that line-up news for 2022 is coming very soon!

Like 2021's event we're going to be getting a total of six headliners next year, with boss Melvin Benn telling NME in August that three of them were already in place – so here's hoping we'll get to find out at least half, if not the whole lot.

Of course, the 2021 edition of Reading & Leeds was still hugely affected by the pandemic, with oversees artists like Machine Gun Kelly having to drop out fairly last-minute. And Melvin says that 2022 is "a whole new ball game", with the festival making a point not to rebook artists "for the sake of it".

When asked more generally about 2022's festival, Melvin adds that: "We started as a rock festival but we didn’t stay there. We will always intend to be relevant to an incredible audience. We don’t rest on our laurels, we don’t book for the sake of booking, we book for the sake of what works for our audience. The direction moves wherever music goes."

Stay tuned for Reading & Leeds 2022 news coming in "early December".
