Los Angeles metalcore heroes The Ghost Inside have confirmed that they've been writing new music, which may well end up comprising a new album to be released next year.

Speaking to Kerrang! in this week's issue of the magazine, the band – vocalist Jonathan Vigil, bassist Jim Riley, guitarists Chris Davis and Zach Johnson, and drummer Andrew Tkaczyk – have revealed that, alongside rehearsals for their incredible one-night-only reunion show in front of 8,000 fans at The Shrine, they've also been working on new material. And, having gone through unimaginable hardship since they were involved in a tragic road accident on November 19, 2015, their new music follows the similarly powerful themes of previous records.

“This band has always been about something,” Jim explains. “The message has always been positive; it’s a journey from hope to despair. ‘Life’s swinging hard, but I’m swinging harder’ [from Mercy], ‘Only the strong will survive’ [from The Great Unknown]… When those lines were written, we genuinely believed those words, but we were in a different place in the world. We didn’t know how powerful they really could be. But now we’re living them.

“We have one [new] song that’s pretty explicitly about that feeling of living up to who you have said you are,” continues Jim. “If we want to be the house on the hill for those fans that we’ve sold ourselves as for years as The Ghost Inside – as this band that preach positivity and a message that you can get up and fight on from your lowest moment – are we going to live up to it? Or were we just full of shit?

“Life can swing hard, but we will swing harder. And so can anyone.”

In the new issue of Kerrang!, each member of The Ghost Inside discusses in candid detail just what they've been through to get to this point. It's a story of pain, resolve, unity and hope. Pick up your copy now.
