Evanescence Release Lockdown Video For Wasted On You

Watch Evanescence’s beautiful, personal new video for Wasted On You, filmed while the band are all separately self-quarantining.

It might not be the glamorous, full-production affair that Evanescence could have been hoping to lead with when it came to visually launching their return, but the band’s just-released new clip for Wasted On You is the perfect music video that the world needs to see right now.

Following the release of their new single earlier today, the band have just unveiled an accompanying clip, filmed separately at each of the band member’s homes while adhering to the lockdown restrictions that we’re all facing amid the coronavirus pandemic.

We were recording this music right up until we couldn’t go into the studio anymore, and finished it remotely through file sharing and phone calls,” says vocalist Amy Lee of Wasted On You. We are still writing and have a lot more work to do on this album, but this time we wanted to release the songs individually, as we create, to live more in the moment with our fans and our music.

Wasted On You wasn’t the song we were planning to release first, but when the whole world went into indefinite lockdown and everything changed, so did the feeling and meaning of what we wanted to say right now. I didn’t write these lyrics about what we’re all now going through, but somehow that’s exactly what they are.

As far as business is concerned, this is considered a terrible time to release. But we believe that people need music now more than ever. We do, and we’re not going to wait to share it because who knows what tomorrow brings. Who knows if it even comes?”

The release of Wasted On You follows the news of Evanescence and Within Temptations rescheduled dates for the Worlds Collide 2020 tour.

It’s interesting, I’ve known for a long time that we share fans because I’ve heard of this band through the internet talking and our fans talking about them,” said Amy. The offer came up for us to do this tour together and we’re very excited about it. It just seems to make perfect sense, and we’re all really looking forward to it.”
