Frank Iero Addresses My Chemical Romance Reunion Rumours

2019 has been a pretty confusing year for My Chemical Romance fans.

Back in February, frontman Gerard Way was asked about a potential reunion, to which he replied, "I don't think so…"

Then, the internet blew up last month when Joe Jonas of the Jonas Brothers revealed that the rock titans were in fact recently rehearsing next to them, leading everyone to believe that My Chem were reuniting.

"I've got some dirt," the pop star said. "My Chemical Romance were apparently rehearsing next to us in New York recently, which, I thought they broke up, so… that's the gossip!"

Now, though, Frank Iero has addressed the matter in the Asbury Park Press – with the publication prefacing Frank's words by stating that the guitarist "denied the report".

“I survived a bus accident, so anything is possible,” he then goes on to say, leaving the question incredibly open-ended. Interesting…

The former members of My Chemical Romance are all incredibly busy right now away from talk of them getting back together: Frank himself just released a brilliant new solo album Barriers; Gerard has his head buried in comics while working on season two of the Netflix adaptation of The Umbrella Academy; and brother Mikey is releasing his own comic book series, Collapser. Things have been a bit more quiet from fellow guitarist Ray Toro, however, but he did recently join Gerard on several ace songs for The Umbrella Academy.

Frank Iero will be returning to the UK this month with The Future Violents for a set at 2000trees, before coming back again in August for a co-headline run with Against Me! leader Laura Jane Grace and her band, The Devouring Mothers.

"I am so excited to be touring with our friends Laura Jane Grace and the Devouring Mothers in the next few months,” Frank says. “They are great people, fantastic musicians, and put out one of my favourite records of last year. I really think it’s going to be an incredible set of shows.”
