My Chemical Romance Postpone Japan Shows Including Download Festival

Download Festival Japan has been postponed, along with My Chemical Romance’s headline date in Osaka.

While My Chemical Romance’s 2020 live comeback is set to begin in just a matter of weeks, the band have unfortunately had to postpone two upcoming dates in Japan this month due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The New Jersey emo heroes were set to perform at Intex in Osaka on March 28, and then Download Festival Japan the following day, but both will now be pushed back to a later date.

“The promoter of our Japan shows suggested that we postpone the shows in Japan for the safety of the public, and we are heeding that advice,” the band say in a statement.

My Chem add that they were hoping to secure alternative tour dates before announcing the postponement, but “somehow word got out before we could do that”. They are currently working on rescheduling these dates, “and will try to announce those soon”.

We are terribly sad to postpone,” they add, “and even more distressed about what is happening the world over.”

Meanwhile, Download Japan 2020 have also released a statement on the unfortunate news, confirming:

We regret to announce that Download Japan 2020 and the My Chemical Romance headline show in Osaka will be postponed. The headline show scheduled for Dirty Honey on Tuesday March 31 will also be postponed.

Currently, we are working on rescheduling the dates for each event. Tickets purchased for the original dates will be valid for the rescheduled dates. For those customers who wish to receive a refund, we will announce details of the refund process once we announce the rescheduled dates.”
