Fresh from the release of the official first Joker: Folie À Deux trailer, Palaye Royale have unveiled a new cover song that is seemingly from the movie’s soundtrack.

It’s been reported many times that the follow-up to 2019’s incredible Joker is something of a musical – not least because it stars Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn – and following the first look at the film yesterday, Palaye have taken to the internet to share a brand-new cover.

The trio have tackled The Turtles’ 1967 classic Happy Together, and released their suitably dark and heavy take via a video of the Folie À Deux trailer. “Our cover of The Turtles – Happy Together,” they write. “Joker: Folie à Deux in theaters October 04, 2024.”

At the time of writing, though, there are no other details out there about the rest of the music in the film. The original Folie À Deux trailer unveiled by Warner Bros. Pictures features a cover of Jackie DeShannon’s What The World Needs Is Love, so it’s not quite clear if this is an alternate trailer, or what Palaye Royale’s involvement in the soundtrack will be. Variety reported a couple of weeks ago that Joker 2 would have ‘at least 15 cover songs’ in it, with it being ‘mostly a jukebox musical’ of ‘very well-known’ tracks, so perhaps we’ll get to hear their version of Happy Together somewhere else in the movie?

Check it out below:

Joker: Folie À Deux will hit cinemas on October 4, and stars Joaquin Phoenix returning as Arthur Fleck as well as a surprise cameo from Steve Coogan as we learned yesterday from the trailer – watch that below:
