John Travolta Wins Worst Actor Razzie For Fred Durst's The Fanatic

If you haven't watched it already, now might be the time to catch Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst's movie The Fanatic. Part horror flick, part social commentary about Hollywood, and entirely confused, the film has already garnered a ton of baffled praise in the same way The Room and Glenn Danzig's Verotika have -- so much so that both Durst and lead actor John Travolta were nominated for the coveted Golden Raspberries, or Razzies, for Worst Director and Worst Actor. Now, the votes are in, and while Durst was spared, Travolta came out a winner (of sorts).

Travolta won the Razzie for Worst Actor, both for his film Trading Paint and for The Fanatic's portrayal of Moose, an obsessed superfan who takes his love of movie star Hunter Dunbar (Devon Sawa) way too far (it is never explicitly stated in the film that Moose is either autistic or mentally handicapped, though Travolta's performance certainly suggests it). The Grease actor beat some pretty tough competition for the award, with the other nominees including James Franco for Zeroville, David Harbour for Hellboy, Matthew McConaughey for Serenity, and Sylvester Stallone for Rambo: Last Blood.

Unfortunately, The Fanatic won neither Worst Picture nor Worst Director, as it was beaten in both categories by Cats, which swept the Razzies with a total of six awards.
