A new print issue of Kerrang! means heading into the studio with an artist whose upcoming album we’re next-level excited about – and for our latest Sleep Token mag, we meet up with Kid Bookie to find out how he’s progressing with the follow-up to 2021 debut album Cheaper Than Therapy.

There’s no official announcement just yet, but the musician exclusively tells us that his new album will be titled Songs For The Living // Songs For The Dead, and he describes it as a “ride from life to death from my perspective of living, because I am obsessed with dying.

“I’m only going to do it once,” he explains. “It’s the one thing I’ll never get to understand because I can’t experience it then speak about it. It’s an intriguing fact to plunder – not in a scary way, but using it to tackle fear. There’s no right or wrong, we just throw ideas into what death is. That’s why I enjoy using death as a subject matter in my shit – as well as enjoying life!”

While you’re going to have to pick up the magazine to read the full thing, Kid Bookie proudly asserts that, “This record cements that I do belong here. Rock music is my everything and I feel like this album can push that sound to people who don’t listen to shit like that. That’s what is important to me. It’s okay to express yourself in nuanced ways, not limit it to any type of facet. This sound can speak as much as anything else, so don’t be afraid of sounds or what your mum thinks about it – you’ve got to get to grips that sometimes your mum might be wrong.”

If you are in the UK you can pick up a copy of our new issue from WHSmith or all good newsagents and independent stores.
