TRON: Ares director says Nine Inch Nails’ score makes the film “grittier” and “more industrial”
Joachim Rønning has revealed that “Nine Inch Nails lends itself perfectly” to the world he’s creating for next year’s TRON: Ares…
Trent Reznor opens up about Nine Inch Nails' Hurt in the official trailer for Netflix's Song Exploder (Volume 2).
Ahead of the release of the next instalment of the Song Exploder series, Netflix have shared the trailer for Volume 2 of the show – and it looks like it's going to be an emotional one when it comes to Nine Inch Nails' episode.
Trent Reznor will appear in the in-depth programme, which is based on Hrishikesh Hirway's podcast of the same name and "spotlights some of the world's greatest musicians as they reveal how they brought one of their songs to life". And, alongside Dua Lipa, The Killers and Natalia Lafourcade, Nine Inch Nails' Hurt is going to be broken down in the series, which premieres globally on Netflix on December 15.

In the trailer, we see Trent being interviewed by Hrishikesh while listening to Hurt. As the frontman hits 'pause', he reveals emotionally, “That's me not knowing who I was anymore. I felt alone. When I finished it, I think I said, 'I'm sorry.’”
While it already looks like it's going to be a tough, powerful watch, Hrishikesh previously revealed that Trent actually gave him the idea to turn Song Exploder into a TV show in the first place.
“I first interviewed Trent Reznor for a Nine Inch Nails episode of the podcast back in 2017, and afterward, as I was packing up my microphone and laptop, he asked me, ‘Have you ever thought about making this into a TV show?’” he explained. “It was just a glimmer of an idea back then. I’m so excited that it’s come to life, and I get to share four more episodes of the series with these beloved artists. They’re all so different from one another in terms of sound and background, and I can’t wait for people to see and hear their stories, and the unique path they each took to create these songs.”
