“Ninety percent of these photos have never been seen before,” reveals Jeff Ament as he announces a photo book, Since Forever, that documents Pearl Jam's formative years.
Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament has announced a photo book called Since Forever.
The book consists of over 250 black-and-white photographs that Jeff took over the space of decades, documenting the people, places and moments that have inspired him.
Jeff worked on the book with his brother, designer Barry Ament, who helped him work through his archive of decomposing negatives.
“If there was a goal, it was mostly to save the failing 30 year old negatives. It was Barry’s idea to make a book,” he says.
“Historically, my family will often get together by creating some kind of project or job. And in some ways, putting together this book was a job for Barry and me – a reason to hang out. Most of these photos are from 1990 to 1998. He was there for a lot of it. If he wasn’t, he was next door or a phone call away.”
Most of the photos have never been seen before and together, they tell the story of how Pearl Jam evolved from their formative years to become the world-renowned rockers they are today.
“Ninety percent of these photos have never been seen before,” says Jeff. ”Anybody who’s a PJ fan or a fan of what was going on in the 90s will dig it.”
Since Forever will be released on September 25, and some book events to celebrate its release will be announced soon.
