Watch Billy Corgan perform 1979 with sombr at Coachella

The Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan made his surprise Coachella debut over the weekend.

The alternative rock legend appeared at the festival’s Outdoor Theatre as a special guest to sombr during his 10-song set. “Coachella, is it cool if I bring some fucking rock royalty on the stage right now?” asked the 20-year-old breakout indie-pop star. “Coachella, I want you to make the most noise for this person – it’s their first time ever appearing at Coachella.

“Coachella, please make some fucking noise for Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins!”

The pair then went on to perform a duet of The Smashing Pumpkins’ classic 1979, taken from 1995’s beloved third album Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness. Watch the full, official video below:
