Greta Van Fleet Didn’t Win This Year’s Best New Artist Grammy
The niche Rock and Metal categories have their own underground importance at the Grammy Awards. But when a rock or metal artist creeps into one of the big, mainstream categories, it takes rockers’ devotion to new levels. Will rock triumph this year, or will the industry deny guitar-based music once more?
Tonight, Frankenmuth, Michigan’s own Greta Van Fleet were rock’s entry in this arena, being nominated for Best New Artist category. And hey, the band already won Best Rock Album, so it’s not like they’ll walk away from tonight empty-handed.
But sadly, the band did not win this year’s Best New Artist award. The prize went instead to Dua Lipa. That said, the boys can take solace in their several nominations and album win.
We’re saddened that Greta didn’t take home the award, but can’t wait to see the next time they’re nominated.
