Exclusive: Mutoid Man’s New Cover of Little Richard’s Keep A Knockin’
Last month, we announced that larger-than-life power trio Mutoid Man are headlining Kerrang!’s first ever live show in the U.S.A. Now, the band – which features Cave In’s Stephen Brodsky and Converge’s Ben Koller – premieres a wonderfully bizarre new track right here at Kerrang.com.
Never ones to take their craft too seriously, Mutoid Man have been flaunting their comedic and musical chops with a series of cover songs. First, they unveiled a remake of the Tom Jones classic, She’s A Lady, with their own cheeky spin (as She’s A Mutoid Lady). Then, they followed up with their take on Led Zeppelin’s Communication Breakdown (aptly titled Mutation Breakdown). Today, they unveil the glorious Keepa Gnawkin’ – a riff on Little Richard’s Keep A Knockin’.
Though recorded live at Best Rehearsal in 2015, all three cover songs sound as fresh as ever, with credit due to producer Jeff Filmer’s mastery.
Check out Keepa Gnawkin’ below:
Mutoid Man are on the road again in support of 2017’s widely acclaimed War Moans (Sargent House). A love letter to the ferocious, no-frills metal of their youth, War Moans yielded a glut of relentlessly savage hooks and next-level dexterity from the seasoned trio. With no riff or drum pattern considered too absurd, Mutoid Man scamper through sonic extremes and beyond with War Moans.
