Not even rain can stop rock music - at least not if you’re Static Dress, anyway, who turned up to play with Underoath after their support slot with Motionless in White was called off due to extreme weather.

The first leg of Motionless In White’s Sweat and Blood tour has been largely taking place in outdoor venues, but a thunderstorm meant that Static Dress’ opening slot on the Albuquerque stop of the tour on Tuesday (July 28) got canned. The other two support bands, Fit For A King and Lorna Shore, were able to play as normal, as did Motionless themselves.

Fortunately, Underoath also happened to be playing in Albuquerque that night in an indoor venue, so Static Dress headed across town and got to play nonetheless.

“So check this out!” Underoath’s Spencer Chamberlain is heard saying in a video of their lin-up posted to Instagram. “Our dear friends sent us a text message today and they said ‘Our show got rained off, what are you guys up to?’ and we said ‘Why don’t you come play a few songs for our fans?’ And our dear friends Static Dress are coming to play a few songs for you if that’s alright with you!’

Static Dress and Underoath became acquainted after the former supported the latter on their 20th anniversary tour for their huge album They’re Only Chasing Safety in 2024 across both the UK and the US. Underoath then hopped aboard Static Dress’ single Nostalgia Kills, which appears on their new album Injury Episode.
