Svalbard unleash a barrage of blackened brutality inside The K! Pit, in association with Nordic Spirit

After Nova Twins' rave-punk explosion last week, we thought we'd bring something heavier to this week's K! Pit in association with Nordic Spirit.

Hot on the heels of their spellbinding new album When I Die, Will I Get Better?, Bristol metallers Svalbard took to our favourite London dive bar of Blondies for a savage six-song set, which saw vocalist/guitarist Serena Cherry get rather emotional, speaking to camera with tears in her eyes after opening track Greyscale.

“If you ask any of my bandmates, they’ll tell you that I’m the sort of person who cries at anything! I’ll see a cute dog and I’ll burst into tears,” she laughed afterwards. “But playing that first song made me so emotional. To be able to make a big noise together again was incredible. It hit me all at once. I thought, ‘This is why I do it!’ It felt electric to play again. I felt so happy, happy that live music is still a thing. It’s been really easy this year to forget that it is because it still feels that playing live is so far away.”

You can watch the band's full 30-minute set below, which was filmed without an audience and in accordance with all COVID-19 governmental guidelines.
