Metalcore crew Afterlife have signed to Mascot Records, and dropped a huge new single.
Entitled Bad Habits, the Linkin Park-esque banger is about “realising that your behaviour or vices are negatively impacting the people around you,” according to vocalist Tyler Levenson. “It captures the struggle between denial and self-awareness, ultimately becoming a cry for help. As people, we all struggle with life and the unfortunate circumstances it brings. Sometimes the ways we cope, the ways we ‘get by’ can become harmful, not only to ourselves but to those around us.
“One of my favourite deliveries in the song takes place in verse two, where I intensely describe my battle with denial: ‘Then I put a fake face on, ’cause I’m headed to a place that I gotta get away from / Can you help me get away from all the pain, the doubt, the fear that traps me here?’ The song is a perfect description of how I was feeling on a day-to-day basis at various points in my life.”
