Beartooth call out artist who used AI to create their new lyric video

“We have no interest in using AI or artists lying about using AI to try to translate the blood, sweat and tears that were put into this album in any way, shape or form," Beartooth say as they remove a lyric video that used AI without their knowledge.

Beartooth have removed a teaser for their new single after they discovered the artist they commissioned for it had used AI to create it without their knowledge or consent.

The band have a new single titled bullshit on the way, which comes from their forthcoming album Pure Ecstasy. However, they have now confirmed the lyric video will be remade by Caleb Shomo’s brother Luke – who also created the Pure Ecstasy artwork – and taken a stand against the use of AI in creative fields.

In a statement posted to Instagram, Caleb writes:

“Hello all you lovely people we posted a teaser this morning for a new song that was flagged for AI.

“The artist we commissioned for this project assured us adamantly throughout the process that no AI was used to create this lyric video.

“Unfortunately after a lot of red flags and conversations this morning, we now know for a fact that was not the case.

“We have no interest in using AI or artists lying about using AI to try to translate the blood, sweat and tears that were put into this album in any way, shape or form.

“My brother Luke who worked tirelessly on the album art will again work tirelessly tonight to whip up a lyric video we’re all proud of and stand behind because he’s really badass.

“The song will be posted as scheduled. We love you all and we love human creativity. Thank you for understanding.”

Pure Ecstasy will drop via Fearless on August 28. The band will also be touring it across the UK and Europe this autumn.
