Check out Poppy’s moody cover of Alanis Morrissette’s Hand In My Pocket

Poppy has covered Alanis Morrissette’s 1995 hit Hand In My Pocket.

The cover was released as part of the soundtrack for the Canadian indie film Mile End Kicks, which follows a young woman (Barbie Ferreira) who moves to Montreal in 2011 with the aim of writing a book about the legendary Alanis Morrissette album Jagged Little Pill (the album Hand In My Pocket appears on). She ends up becoming a publicist for the band Bone Patrol and is caught in a love triangle with two of its members (Devon Bostick and Stanley Simons).

Poppy’s version of the song is quite different from her usual output - it’s a sparser, gentler interpretation, almost a little sombre. Listen to it below:

Poppy will be heading out on tour across North America this summer with LANDMVRKS and Thousand Below supporting. She will then be crossing the pond to open for Evanescence at their arena shows across the UK in September.
