Pat Smear is set to miss several upcoming Foo Fighters gigs.

The guitarist was apparently involved in a “bizarre gardening accident” which involved “smashing the shit out of his left foot”, leaving him with “multiple broken bones”. Foos don’t say how long it’ll take Pat to heal, only that Jason Falkner will replace him while he gets some much-needed rest.

“In the classic tradition of rockstars having bizarre gardening accidents, Pat Smear has apparently rung in the new year by smashing the shit out of his left foot,” Foo Fighters announce. “This means he’ll unfortunately be missing a few shows while the multiple broken bones in his foot heal. We’ll miss our beloved Pat as much as you will, but we want him fully healed and back on his feet as soon as possible.

“Beck and St. Vincent guitar wizard Jason Falkner will be filling in for Pat while he’s on the mend.”

In just a couple of days’ time, Foos are set to appear at Feria Estatal de León in Guanajuato, Mexico, before playing Los Angeles’ Kia Forum on January 14, and then UTAS Stadium in Launceston, Tasmania 10 days later. After that, they’ll be headlining Florida’s Welcome To Rockville in May, so let’s see if Pat’s back in action by then. Get well soon, sir!
