Italian fashion brand Gucci have unveiled a new promotional short film – which wouldn’t usually be Kerrang! news, however the soundtrack has certainly caught our attention…
The glossy clip, done by English filmmaker Jonathan Glazer, uses three songs during its one minute and 46-second runtime: it starts with Mina’s Un bacio è troppo poco and ends with Hier encore by Charles Aznavour, but sandwiched right in-between is, amazingly, a snippet of Slipknot’s raging 1999 self-titled classic (sic).
“Set in a motel under a full moon, a short film by Jonathan Glazer drifts between the real and the surreal, as people cross paths and gather into a new future adventure,” reads the description.
While it’s surprising to hear some killer nu-metal in a Gucci ad, it’s probably something the band will welcome. In a 2020 interview with The Face, M. Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan shared the fashion-loving side of himself and revealed that “Alexander McQueen was my gateway into fashion”, and, “What I do and the energy I bring to Slipknot is very similar to what he did.”
Referring to various Alexander McQueen catwalk moments over the years, Clown enthused: “I understand those shows and the risks he took – it felt perfectly natural when I stumbled across it. It really made me feel like I belong.”
