Bloodstock have announced that Lemmy will be memorialised at this year’s festival – and every year after – with some of his ashes being housed in a ‘unique urn’ across the weekend.

Bloodstock have just announced an extremely special Lemmy tribute for this year’s festival.

In collaboration with Motörhead’s management, the Catton Park metal bash will be housing some of the legendary frontman’s ashes at the RAM Gallery in a ‘unique urn’, with the festival also commissioning a bust of Lemmy to incorporate them. Once the event is over, this bust will be moved to Rock City in Nottingham – but it’ll be returning for each and every Bloodstock in the years to come, too.

“Bloodstock has always been a special place for Motörhead and for Lemmy,” says the band’s manager Todd Singerman. “The people and the energy matched Lemmy’s values perfectly. Alan and Vicky were also great friends, and basically family of Lemmy, as he was the reason that they originally got together. This is definitely a fitting honour in the continuing series of enshrinements of Lemmy’s ashes in his most loved places.”

“We were humbled and honoured to be approached by Motörhead management to have Lemmy’s ashes at Bloodstock,” continues Vicky Hungerford. “Lemmy holds a very special place in everybody’s heart, but to myself and my husband he was the reason we met and fell in love. Nothing will mean more to us and the Bloodstock family than to honour his legacy and have Lemmy forever at Bloodstock.”

Elsewhere, there’s going to be a full-on Motörhead theme at the RAM Gallery along with Lemmy’s ashes, including artwork, memorabilia and a recreation of his touring dressing room. Phil Campbell is also set to attend the fest, and on top of that the Motörhead Bomber will also be in the arena.

Bloodstock takes place at Catton Park from August 8 – 11. Get your tickets now.
