Listen to David Byrne’s cover of Hard Times by Paramore
After inspiring “the cadence and tone of these verses”, Talking Heads’ David Byrne has covered Paramore’s Hard Times for Record Store Day – stream it now.

Following Paramore’s ace Talking Heads cover at the start of 2024, David Byrne has just unveiled his own official rendition of one of their songs.
The iconic vocalist has tackled After Laughter banger Hard Times for a Record Store Day release that includes both covers, having previously enthused that, “The band told me that their song Hard Times was inspired by Talking Heads, so I learned it and recorded my version of their great song with a horn section.”
With David’s version now out in the world, Hayley Williams has taken to Instagram to enthuse, “Crazy to hear the guy who inspired the cadence and tone of these verses, singing them the way only he could.
“Talking Heads and the Stop Making Sense film drip-fed inspiration into the best moments of After Laughter which, for now, remains my favorite child (I know we’re not supposed to say those kinds of things). Thanks @davidbyrneofficial!!! Love, Hayley.”
