With thousands of fans attempting to get blink-182 tickets, Mark Hoppus says he gave it a go himself “just to see what the experience was like”… and even he couldn’t get any.
We once wrote a big list about why Mark Hoppus is just a thoroughly great dude, and here’s another reason: in trying to understand the fan experience when it comes to purchasing tickets for blink-182’s massively-in-demand reunion tour with Tom DeLonge, the bassist himself gave it a shot… and actually couldn’t get any.
In a post on Reddit entitled “Mark acknowledges ticket fiasco”, the musician apparently posted on Discord that he tried to buy tickets to two blink gigs “just to see what the experience was like”, given how many fans are seemingly missing out. Mark said that he “had tickets yoinked from my cart and the whole thing crash out”.
Of the controversial ‘dynamic pricing’ system which Ticketmaster introduced earlier this year, meanwhile, Mark also explained that he wasn’t in charge of it, and its purpose was “to discourage scalpers”. “We’re trying to bring you the best possible show for the best price,” he wrote. “This is a tour celebrating new music and the band getting back together. Thank you for your enthusiasm and I hope to see all of you at the shows.”
