When We Were Young Fest is on hiatus for 2026
Las Vegas emo and pop-punk nostalgia fest When We Were Young won’t be happening this year – but don’t worry, “This isn’t goodbye – it’s just a pause.”
Green Day performed an American Idiot medley at the Opening Ceremony for yesterday’s Super Bowl LX – see the full thing now.
Green Day hit Santa Clara’s massive Levi’s Stadium yesterday (February 8) to kick off proceedings for this year’s Super Bowl LX.
Arriving onstage before the Seattle Seahawks’ victory against the New England Patriots, Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool warmed up the crowd by performing an American Idiot medley of Holiday, Boulevard Of Broken Dreams and of course the iconic album’s title-track.
“From the Bay to the Bowl!!!” the band posted on social media afterwards. “Opened Super Bowl LX in our own backyard at Levi’s Stadium. That energy was off the charts.”

While yesterday’s short set didn’t feature any political comments or lyric swaps, at a Spotify-sponsored Super Bowl party at San Francisco’s Pier 29 on Friday night Billie Joe had told “all the ICE agents out there to quit your shitty-ass job”.
“Quit that shitty job you have,” he said (via Variety). “Because when this is over – and it will be over at some point in time – Kristi Noem, Stephen Miller, JD Vance, Donald Trump, they’re gonna drop you like a bad fucking habit. Come on this side of the line.”
