Ever wondered what it might have been like in the first years of Green Day, before they became the biggest punk band on the planet (twice)? Wonder no more: next month Nimrods, the new road-trip comedy movie from director Lee Kirk, hits cinemas, telling the story of, if not exactly that, something remarkably similar.

Featuring the band themselves, it tells the story of a young lad who gets a call asking if his band want to open for Green Day on New Year's Eve. Not realising it's a prank, he hits the road in a desperate attempt to get to LA on time for the show.

The trailer's just dropped below. If that's whetted your appetite, there's global screenings on August 11, followed by a U.S. release on August 14. To find your nearest cinema and get more details on the movie and its massive soundtrack album, visit the movie's official website.
