Donald Trump has said that, presumably to the deep disappointment of all involved, he won't be in attendance at this year's Super Bowl, and will thus miss out on watching Green Day and Bad Bunny.

When asked by the New York Post if he'd be going to Super Bowl LX, where Bad Bunny will perform at the half-time show of the match and Green Day will play the opening ceremony, the American President and noted music buff replied, “I’m anti-them. I think it’s a terrible choice. All it does is sow hatred. Terrible.”

Bad Bunny's scoring of the half-time show gig has come under fire from Trump supporters, who called the Latin GRAMMY-winning Puerto Rican singer "a massive Trump hater", and criticised him for having "no songs in English". The addition of Green Day last week hasn't gone down much better, despite the California punks having loads of songs in English.

Billie Joe Armstrong has long been a critic of Trump, notably through his addition of 'No Trump, no KKK, no fascist USA' during performances of Bang Bang. He's also switched up some of American Idiot's words for more modern times.

In 2016, when Trump was campaigning for The White House the first time around, the frontman told Kerrang! that he was worried about what the then-hopeful was tapping into.

“The worst problem I see about Trump is who his followers are,” he said. “I actually feel bad for them, because they’re poor, working-class people who can’t get a leg up. They’re pissed off and he’s preyed on their anger. He just said, ‘You have no options and I’m the only one, and I’m going to take care of it myself.’ I mean, that’s fucking Hitler, man!

“I wish I were over-exaggerating. And sometimes maybe I do over-exaggerate with Bush. But with Trump, I just can’t wait ’til he’s gone.”

Super Bowl LX between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks takes place on Sunday, February 8.
