Essex punk duo The Meffs will release their second LP Business in September: “I wanted to make an album that pins you to the wall from start to finish…”
The Meffs have announced their new, second studio album, Business.
Arriving on September 11 via FLG, the Essex punk duo – vocalist/guitarist Lily Hopkins and drummer Lewis Copsey – state of the Dan Weller-produced LP: “Business is everything. It’s work, it’s war, it’s politics, it’s our health. Business is angry and ugly, it’s vulnerable and it speaks for all of us. I wanted to make an album that pins you to the wall from start to finish, and that’s what Business does.”
They’re previewing what’s to come with the raging title-track, explaining that, “In life you’re told to be your ‘authentic self’, but only if your ‘authentic self’ fits a mould, only if your ‘authentic self’ is on brand. We’re not hard enough but we’re not soft enough, we’re not queer enough but we’re too queer, etc. We’re okay with that; we know who we are and we know what we stand for. Business is a love song.”
