Green Day played Father Of All… and Basket Case at the AMAs on November 25 – and their epic performance is now available to watch in full.

Watch Green Day's Full Performance From The 2019 American Music Awards

Fresh from Sunday night's American Music Awards, Green Day have just posted the full video of their two-song set from the ceremony.

While the punk heroes weren't up for any gongs on the night (and in fact Billie Eilish won in the Favourite Artist – Alternative Rock category, beating Imagine Dragons and Panic! At The Disco), the band took to the stage during the show to not only perform recent single Father Of All…, but also throw things back to 1994 with their Dookie smash hit Basket Case.

Unsurprisingly, both songs went down an absolute storm, with the latter even receiving a few sneaky amendments from the band: not only did frontman Billie Joe Armstrong tease an intro of Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit at first, he also sang lyrics to Taylor Swift's Bad Blood during the track. And while not everyone in the audience seemingly knew all the words to Basket Case (seriously… how?!), it's a delight to spot Post Malone and Billie Eilish's brother Finneas belting their hearts out every now and again in the clip. Show ’em how it's done, guys.

Before Green Day took to the stage, Billie Eilish actually introduced their performance on the night, telling the AMAs crowd: “So 25 years ago, Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool recorded their iconic album Dookie. Growing up, there was no band more important to me or my brother. So celebrating Dookie and their new single Father Of All…, please welcome Green Day!”

Recently talking to Kerrang! about their new album Father Of All… – due out in February next year – Billie Joe revealed that song names were a huge part of the creative process when it came to new material this time around; in fact, many of his lyrics were based on playful titles that he’d jotted down in the notes on his phone.

“Song titles were really big on this one,” the frontman explained. “We have one song called The Art Of The Deal With The Devil – Trump wrote a book called The Art Of The Deal, back in the ’80s or something. It was just these titles that make you laugh. That kind of stuff would lead into lyrics. It’s like a puzzle, just trying to put it together.”

As for why the album is called Father Of All… (full name: Father Of All Mother Fuckers)?

“Um…” he pondered with a grin. “It’s just a badass title! I think it was Kerry King from Slayer – they have an album called God Hates Us All, and someone asked, ‘Do you really think God hates us all?’ And he goes, ‘I don’t know! It’s just a badass title!’ (Laughs) As soon as the title came up, I was like, ‘Oh man, this is good.’”
