The XCERTS explore tough love on new single bury you
The XCERTS' Murray McLeod says new single bury you "acts as a reflective conversation and a statement of intent for myself".
"There are a lot of parallels between our first record and this record," says The XCERTS' Murray McLeod of rinse repeat, which references the band's 2009 single Crisis In The Slow Lane.
The XCERTS have shared a melancholic new single, rinse repeat, which makes reference to one of their earliest songs.
The lyrics of rinse repeat nod to their 2009 single Crisis In The Slow Lane, drawing a parallel between what vocalist Murray McLeod was going through then and the difficult couple of years he’s had more recently.
“This might be the first time we've self-referenced our own material. There are a lot of parallels between our first record and this record, with the heartbreak of a relationship deteriorating and the loss of a parent. We wanted this song to be reminiscent of Crisis In The Slow Lane but from the perspective of adulthood,” explains Murray.
“Sadly cancer was all too prominent in our lives during the writing and recording of this record, and this song is very much about my father's diagnosis at the tail end of 2022 and the helplessness of it all. I also tend to merge different scenes in verses and tie them together with choruses, so verse 2 is also about hopelessness, but in regards to my then partner's struggles."

The new song is the latest track to be taken from The XCERTS’ upcoming album i think i want to go home now, which drops on July 10 via FLG. It follows the previously released singles in your eyes and do it to myself, while they also teamed up with As It Is for their recent single Ruin My Life.
