Tony Iommi will “definitely” release a new solo album in 2026

Tony Iommi has announced that he will “definitely” release a new solo album in 2026.
Many years on from 2005’s Fused (and 2012’s charity project WhoCares with Ian Gillan), the Black Sabbath guitar hero will be returning to solo duty very soon. He confirms in a new four-minute video update from the studio – which is simply entitled A 2026 New Year’s Message – that “of course, in 2026, I shall have, definitely, definitely, my solo album out”.
“I’m really looking forward to that,” he enthuses. “I’m enjoying doing it, it’s been great fun, and I really hope you enjoy it. But I’ll keep you more up-to-date as we go on, what’s happening with that and when it’s gonna be released.”
Elsewhere, Tony sums up the rest of his 2025 – of course reflecting on the tragic passing of the great Ozzy Osbourne, as well as the “fantastic” Back To The Beginning farewell show at Villa Park. “It’s just unfortunate and sad that Ozzy passed away a couple of weeks after that,” he says of losing The Prince Of Darkness. “May he rest in peace.”
