Last Thursday, the Kerrang! Awards tore through London in a blur of rock'n'roll debauchery.

Throughout the night we handed out three new awards: the Disruptor Award, the Grassroots Award and the New Noise Award presented by Dr. Martens, which shines a light on the new wave of incredible talent coming through the alt. scene right now.

Claiming the inaugural prize were nu-metal-revival-punks WARGASM, fending off Heriot, Pinkshift, Pupil Slicer and Static Dress.

Accepting their award from Surfbort vocalist Dani Miller, WARGASM's Sam Matlock and Milkie Way used their acceptance speech to spotlight some of their favourite new bands with female members, including fellow New Noise nominees Heriot, Cassyette and Spiritbox.

Elsewhere on the night, Green Day were bestowed with the Kerrang! Icon Award, Bob Vylan won Best Album and Nova Twins were named Best British Breakthrough.
